Revitalising web content for King's Business School
When King's elevated their Business School to faculty status they wanted fresh new content and a new design to celebrate the achievement. The old copy wasn’t fit for purpose - an injection of energy and purpose was needed.
Challenge
We had precious little source material to work with, but more detailed text was needed in several instances. We only had 3 weeks to create 80 pages of content – and most of the academics were away. But, with experience in writing for similar institutions, we were able to capture the right blend of dynamism, gravitas and accessibility.
What we did
Refreshed the story
A new design meant new opportunities to structure the content. The team at King's were very open to our suggestions on how best to tell the story.
Focused on the message
We worked closely with the marketing team to develop a new approach to the copy and put the new Vice Chancellor's agenda of a connected London institution more squarely in the spotlight.
Developed a dynamic tone
We adjusted the tone for different areas such as postgraduate and research, but kept a purposeful business-like note that kept everything in line with the main agenda.
Trained the team
We took what we learned about writing for the Business School into a workshop with the marketing team, giving them tips and techniques to create more purposeful and compelling copy.
“A Thousand Monkeys are fantastic to work with: attentive, diligent and always ready to dig deeper into the brief to ensure that we as the client get exactly what we were after.”

The results
We completed the whole project in three weeks. The new faculty site has been an inspiration to the rest of the university. As a result, we’ve now helped several other faculties makeover their pages with fresh course descriptions and more. We’re currently working on a major new repositioning of the business school – watch this space!
